Training “Development of Core Training Curriculum for Biosecurity and Biosafety” at Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health, 23-25 June

TEMPO member institutes as SRC VB VECTOR, Koltsovo, SRC Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology, Obolensk, SRC Toxicology& Hygienic Regulation of Biopreparations, Serpukhov, and other institutes as Russian Scientific Research Anti-Plague Institute "Microbe", Saratov, Kazakh Scientific Center of Quarantine and Zoonotic Infections in Almaty attended the training “Development of Core Training Curriculum for Biosecurity and Biosafety” at Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health. The training included overview of the main curriculum for biosafety and biosecurity, that includes the following specific modules:  Introduction to Biosafety and Biocontainment,  Biosafety and Biocontainment Concepts and Strategies,  Biosecurity Concepts and Strategies, Risk Assessment, Biosafety Program Management, Biorisk Communication, Biocontainment Facilities,  Operational Biosafety Practices and Procedures, Biological Safety Cabinets, Animal Biosafety and Facilities,  Disinfection and Decontamination, Waste Management,  Biosafety and Biosecurity in Specialized Environments, Transportation of Infectious Substances, Emergency Planning and Response. The training was conducted by the trainers Maureen Ellis (Global Partnership Program of Canada), Stefan Wagener (Public Health of Canada, Canadian Center for Human and Animal Health), Ingegerd Kallings (Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control), Craig Reed (Technology Management Company/ICID, USA).

       

The presentation was made by TEMPO Project Biosafety team (Diana Pobedimskaya, Yuri Remnev, Sergey Netesov) entitled “Training program “Biosafety and Biosecurity Management”, Course 1 “Train the trainer in biosafety & biosecurity” (ISTC workshop project “Development an outline for biosafety and biosecurity program in Russia according to international standards” supported by the Global Partnership Program  Canada). Core Module Development made by TEMPO during the training followed by discussion with the participation of all participants and collaborators – Maureen Ellis (Global Partnership Program of Canada) , Stefan Wagener (Public Health of Canada, Canadian Center for Human and Animal Health), Ingegerd Kallings (Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control).  Tour of Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health was conducted.
